Right to Bear Arms
I am a gun owner, hunter and sportsman. I came home every day after school to have shooting lessons with my father outside his barber shop beginning at the age of 5 and have since taught all my sons to shoot at that age also. Responsible gun ownership has been a part of my family and my life as long as I can remember. I believe that Americans have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms. In challenging economic times, when government resources are constrained and public safety personnel are stretched, many Georgians will feel the need to protect themselves, their families, and their property. We should be able to keep and own guns without fear of a government registry, excessive restrictions & regulations, or confiscation.
With an A rating from the National Rifle Association as your State Senator and a life time member of the NRA myself, I opposed any and all gun control legislation proposed in the Georgia General Assembly while serving and will continue to do so in Washington.
